Having Trouble with Your Universal Remote?

Trouble with your universal remote

If your remote no longer adjusts the volume, changes channels, or responds properly, it might be time to reset your cable or DirecTV box. These boxes typically receive updates overnight, but occasionally they need a manual reset to complete the process.

When customers report that their remote’s power, volume, channel, or guide buttons aren’t working, our first step is always to reset the cable or DirecTV box. This involves unplugging the box from its power source for at least one full minute. You can also press the physical reset button on the unit, or contact your service provider to perform a remote reset.

Important: Simply turning the box off and back on does not count as a reset. A full power disconnect is necessary to properly reboot the system.
