Late last month, Apple pushed through the newest update for Apple TVs, tvOS 15. As with most software updates, this one came with its fair share of bugs and glitches that can make using your device very frustrating. Furthermore, finding solutions online can become tricky, as it can take months for developers to push through patches to fix these bugs. Lucky for our clients at home, AIC is aware of some of these issues, and we’re here to help!
Some of our clients have reached out concerning an issue with the Elan HR10 remote after this most recent TvOS update. Specifically, they are having issues with the remote’s skipping commands when trying to select apps or channels. We have found that this is happening to a majority of our clients when using the DirecTv app. This is a very annoying problem with a super simple fix. We have found that if you force update both your Apple TV and the app you are trying to use, this bug seems to be resolved.
To force update your Apple TV, go to Settings > System > Software Updates and select Update Software.
