AIC Teams Up with the Gary Sinise Foundation to create Smart Home for Wounded Warriors
Creating Independence Through Innovation: AIC and the Gary Sinise Foundation Build Life-Changing Smart Homes for Wounded Warriors
At Advanced Integrated Controls (AIC), we believe smart home technology should do more than impress—it should empower. When thoughtfully designed, it can transform lives, restoring independence, ease, and dignity to those who need it most. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to partner with the Gary Sinise Foundation—an organization that shares our commitment to honoring our nation’s heroes through action, not just words.
Through their R.I.S.E. (Restoring Independence, Supporting Empowerment) program, the Gary Sinise Foundation builds specially adapted smart homes for America’s most severely wounded veterans. These homes are more than just a place to live—they are custom-designed sanctuaries that support the physical, emotional, and everyday needs of our Wounded Warriors and their families.
Each time AIC is called upon to contribute to a Foundation build, we treat it as both an honor and a responsibility. This is about more than technology—it’s about giving back to those who’ve already given so much.
A Smart Home Designed for Real-Life Needs
In our most recent collaboration with the Gary Sinise Foundation, we had the privilege of working closely with a heroic veteran and their family to design and install a fully integrated smart home system tailored to their unique lifestyle and mobility requirements.
We start each project by listening. Every veteran’s injuries, challenges, and routines are different, so we build systems around their specific needs. For this particular home, that meant integrating voice-activated controls and mobile device access to create a frictionless experience. With just a word or tap, the homeowner can adjust lighting, open doors, lower shades, or activate climate settings without ever needing to reach for a switch or remote.
Some key features of this smart home included:
Whole-home voice control for lighting, thermostats, and window treatments
Smart locks and security cameras to ensure easy, secure access and peace of mind
Automated lighting scenes to improve safety and convenience during nighttime routines
Intuitive entertainment systems designed for accessibility and ease of use
Seamless integration with mobile devices, enabling full control from anywhere in the home
Every piece of this technology was selected with one purpose: to increase independence and reduce physical strain, making daily life not only easier—but more enjoyable.
Technology That Serves a Greater Mission
Smart home technology can often feel like a luxury. But when used with intention—like in a Gary Sinise Foundation R.I.S.E. home—it becomes something far more meaningful. These features aren’t bells and whistles; they’re tools for healing and empowerment.
For a veteran living with limited mobility or chronic pain, being able to open a door, adjust a room’s lighting, or control home temperature without assistance is a life-changing level of autonomy. It means reclaiming everyday routines that once required help. It means moving through the day with comfort and dignity.
At AIC, we take that responsibility seriously. We aren’t just installing systems—we’re helping to create safe, beautiful, and empowering environments for heroes who deserve the very best.
The Power of Partnership
The Gary Sinise Foundation leads with purpose, compassion, and unwavering dedication to America’s veterans and their families. Their team coordinates every detail of the home—from the construction and design to community involvement and finishing touches—with unmatched care.
Being trusted to contribute to these projects means everything to us. We bring our best people, our top-tier solutions, and our deepest commitment to honoring the veterans we serve. With each home, we witness firsthand how technology, when aligned with compassion, can truly change lives.
Our relationship with the Gary Sinise Foundation is not just professional—it’s personal. We are honored to stand beside them in this mission and will continue to support their work however we can.
A Home Is More Than Four Walls
It’s a space where healing happens, where families gather, and where life moves forward. For our Wounded Warriors, a well-designed smart home isn’t just convenient—it’s liberating.
To our veterans: your service and sacrifice inspire us every day.
To the Gary Sinise Foundation: thank you for your vision, your leadership, and for allowing AIC to play a small part in something so important.
And to all who support this mission: let’s continue to build not just houses, but hope, independence, and gratitude—one home at a time.
