Project Category: Best Whole-House/ Smart Home Project under $150K

Award: 2nd Place, Silver

Project Title: “Home on the Harbor”

Project description: The scope of this retrofit project was to offer the clients seamless integration of the entertainment, security and HVAC features of their house, keeping in mind convenience and peace of mind while they are away from home. The automation and integration system is controlled through the Elan Control Systems g platform, offering unlimited control of the multiple subsystems throughout the house. The system is comprised of (14) 4K Distributed Video zones using an Elan 16 Channel Ultra Matrix and (12) High-resolution audio zones powered by Parasound Halo amplifiers. The multiple outdoor audio zones are paired with 10″ Hardscape subwoofers to provide added bass. Multiple control options are available including Alexa Voice Control , (2) 8″ Elan Touchscreens, HR10 remote controls, and IOS devices, making it convenient to operate the equipment. AIC used Access Networks / Ruckus as the very backbone of the seamless roaming wifi system, with an Access Networks wireless controller managing the (6) deployed 5Ghz wireless access points and Bluebolt technology monitoring the entire system 24/7. The camera system consists of (6) Elan 4MP Outdoor Turret cameras with full analytics while Elan Thermostats with humidity control were installed for seamless automation and reduced overall wall clutter.

Project Category: Best Home Office/Gaming Space

Award: 1st Place, Gold

Project Title: “The Study”

Project Description: As a CEO for a large company, the homeowner wanted a fully functional office with high-speed internet, VPN, and zoom capabilities while simultaneously wanting the office to act as a relaxing media room environment. We integrated all of his office and video monitoring equipment into the tv system, allowing him to access zoom calling through a large OLED TV and instantly switch back to streaming Spotify music or a sports program. The TV was paired with really nice speakers and in an in-wall subwoofer that had to be integrated into the existing cabinetry and trimmed out to conceal it. There is an 8-inch analytic touchscreen that acts as an intercom system, media device as well as an Alexa portal. Lutron lighting and shades adorn the entire study, allowing for change in the room’s ambiance as well as giving the owner the ability to enjoy the view of the harbor at a moment’s notice.

Project Category: Best Before/After Retrofit Project

Award: 1st place, Gold

Project Title: “Retro on the River”

Project Description: This beautiful residence, located on the harbor on Hilton Head, features modern design and elite technology while never sacrificing the natural beauty of the Lowcountry. The home features a Dedicated 7.1 Theater Room decked out with a Sony Laser Phosphor 4K projector, Stewart Projection Screen, KEF Front and Rear Speakers, and a 12″ JL Audio Subwoofer. We were also able to convert this existing Family Room into an inconspicuous 4K Media Room with a 5.1 Surround Sound system. A 75″ Sony 4K TV paired with a KEF HTF Series Soundbar, (2) rear KEF 8″ speakers, and (2) Front Firing 8″ JL Audio Subwoofers make this Family Room a focal point for entertainment in the home. We installed a 65″ Sony 4K TV that is recessed within the floor system in the Master Suite to allow for both entertainment and discretion at the push of a button. We installed a camera system consisting of (6) Elan 4MP Outdoor Turret cameras with full analytics which is integrated to activate security events when triggered. Convenience was key for our clients which is why an Elan Control Systems g platform was used, offering unlimited control of the multiple subsystems throughout the house.

AIC 12

Project Category: Best Master Suite

Award: 2nd Place, Silver

Project Title: “The Suite Life”

Project Description: Entertainment, relaxation, and discretion were key concerns for our client going into this project. We strategically designed this stunning master suite, going above and beyond to exceed the expectations of our client. A 65″ Sony 4K TV that is recessed within the floor system was installed, allowing it to lift out of a cabinet that has less height than the TV itself, all at the discretion of the owner. Similarly, Lutron Lighting Control and Automated Shades adorn the entire suite, as well as the master bathroom and sitting room, allowing for a change of ambiance at the touch of a button. The Master Sitting Room features a Sony 65″ 4K TV and 2 In-Ceiling KEF speakers, making for a more private entertainment space. The Master bath even has 2 overhead speakers that are part of the distributed audio system, ensuring that sound is never lost, even when leaving the bedroom. All of this technology is seamlessly integrated with an Elan system, allowing the client to get the most out of their technology without any of the hassles that clunky remotes and light switches bring.

AIC 2

Project Category: Best Integrated Security Project

Award: 2nd Place, Silver

Project Title: “The Farm”

Project Description: This luxurious home sits on 40 acres of property in a gated community/nature preserve in the heart of the Lowcountry. Because the homeowners have various animals and expensive equipment scattered around the property, they wanted to ensure that they had complete coverage of the entire perimeter as well as some of the critical areas of the property. The Main gate entry features a 4-megapixel elan analytic camera and an elan doorbell entry system so when a guest arrives a notification will be sent to the owner with images from multiple cameras and options for letting them in. There is also a service gate with a 30 times zoom PTZ camera that uses smart analytics to follow and track entries, exits, and interior followers. Temporary codes can be issued for workers to use the service gate, which are programmed to operate only during certain times. There are 10 horse stables: each of them featuring a 4 megapixel fixed camera in the stable which allows for 24/7 viewing of the horses. Because the security system is part of the Elan integration family, out of the ordinary events caught by the security system will trigger events based on the situation and time of day. The cameras come built with floodlines that can be triggered at night and pan with the camera, for a clear vibrant image at night. This camera works so well at communicating out of the ordinary events that the owner has actually been able to continuously track the 12-foot alligator that frequents the property.
