From Attic to Atmos

Project Summary

This beautiful southern home, nestled in southern oak and pines, is over 8,000 sq ft and offers over 4,000 sq ft in covered/enclosed porches plus pool and fire pit areas. The biggest challenge was ensuring the homeowner was guaranteed a robust, stable network that covered the entire home without any compromised areas. To provide the best solution for the client, AIC created a layer-3 commercial style network system create the ultimate backbone for the entire property.

Networking can be intricate, especially in large scale settings where reliability and scalability are paramount. AIC needed to ensure that the network infrastructure was robust enough to support the demands of the project while maintaining performance with a significant amount of planning and troubleshooting. The client may wirelessly control all systems through the Nice smart home system and individually control each audio zone allowing them to play the same music or have different zones operate independently.

The Master Suite

In this master suite, luxury meets functionality seamlessly. Designed as more than just a sleeping space, it’s a sanctuary of comfort and practicality. Utilizing the Elan automation system, AIC crafted a bedroom that exceeds expectations. Anticipating various focal points such as Roman Shades/Drapery, Lutron Keypads, (6) In-ceiling speakers, (1) Elan Touch Screens, and a 65” Samsung Framed TV, our priority was ensuring their seamless integration and control. Using the Nice app and touchscreen interface, we’ve simplified operations, putting everything at the homeowner’s fingertips. Furthermore, in this remarkable LowCountry home, we’ve added a personalized touch with dedicated “favorites” functionality for each room, accessible via remote or touchscreen. This customization enhances usability, catering to individual preferences and delivering a truly seamless and enjoyable experience throughout the entire home, setting it apart even amidst the scenic May River landscape.

Lutron Lighting Control, drapery, and shades were paramount for our client in this location, which meant seamless collaboration among multiple trades. Our office took charge of ordering the Roman Shade kits and coordinating with Taylor Made, the company entrusted with the fabric. However, achieving perfection proved to be a multifaceted endeavor as certain cabinetry designs underwent modifications, prompting adjustments to the shades and windows in the closets. This process required ongoing communication to keep all parties up to date of the evolving layout and design. Every fabric choice was meticulously selected by the designer, the meticulous attention to detail woven into every aspect of the project. We meticulously tailored each element to the client’s vision, ensuring that the final result surpassed expectations and exuded both functionality and aesthetic finesse.

The Theater Room

This dedicated 7.2.2 Dolby Atmos Dante system is both a home theater room and the ultimate gaming room. The room is fully customized with a Sony laser 4k projector, 120” Screen Innovations theater screen with Ketra backlighting, Martin Logan tower speaker speakers, Martin Logan in-ceiling speakers and center speaker, (2) Speaker craft sub-woofers, custom Fortress seating, Kaleidescape movie streaming, and (4) Sony playstation consoles. The system is easily controlled by an Elan HR40 handheld remote and an elan video wall matrix system allows the homeowner to host multiple games on screen at one time for the ultimate gaming experience. AIC dedicated an equipment rack specifically for the theater setup to ensure that the audio and video signals remain pristine and lossless. The equipment rack was localized and protected by Furman Power Conditioners and Panamax Bluebolt Surge Protectors that provide protection from electrical spikes and unclean power. By keeping all necessary equipment nearby, any signal degradation that occurs with distributed audio and video setups is minimized giving the homeowner the best possible audiovisual experience without compromising on quality. Lutron Lighting provides the optimal lighting environment for the room.

Home Automation

Nice Home Automation was chosen for the home automation source. The homeowner can control all audio/video in the home, security system, and Lutron lighting/shades from the Nice system. The Nice system may be accessed through the homeowners personal cell phone, iPads, (3) touchscreens, or any of the HR40 remote controls in the home. This system may be accessed while onsite or from anywhere in the world.

Televisions

There are (11) Television locations in the home, each having its own independent source. The televisions in the bedrooms and main viewing areas use the in-ceiling speakers for audio return allowing wonderful sound quality superior to tv speakers only. There are (2) Seura outdoor televisions with Seura soundbars to protect from outdoor elements and weather. The main downstairs television, along with the master, are Samsung framed televisions to conceal their true identity when not in use.

Network

We used a combination of Ruckus and Ubiquiti core systems to create the ultimate backbone network for the homeowner.  The multi wan gigabit router and 48 port PoE gigabit switch provide next-level security, hard-wired connectivity, and static IP assignment to each component for system stability and to reduce overall WIFI traffic. The core switch manages (3) additional switches via 10 Gbps fiber links. There are a total of (8) wireless access points located throughout the property to provide a high degree of redundancy so it gave the system the ability the rebuild itself if a single access point failed at any point. Bluebolt technology monitors the entire system 24/7 as a second layer of management and provides the ability to apply proactive rebooting events at times when the client’s routines would not be interrupted- a true smart home.

Racks

Outdoor Entertainment

There a several separate zones of outdoor audio for this beautiful oasis. There are a total of (10) landscape speakers and (3) in-ground subwoofers concealed in flower bins/beds throughout the property. AIC combined varieties of outdoor in-ceiling speakers, in-ceiling subwoofers, outdoor televisions, landscape speakers & subwoofers to create the ultimate outdoor entertainment environment. This outdoor oasis will transport you into the music you are enjoying. While on the porches you are surrounded by beautiful melodies and underlying base raining from the overhead speakers. One can enjoy watching their favorite sporting events on multiple televisions available outside with premium sound, or as you venture out to the pool or fire pit the melodies will secretly follow you from pathways and flowerbeds reminding you to continue to relax and enjoy their harmonies and this inviting outdoor entertainment area.
