We are excited to showcase an amazing home that AIC had the opportunity to work on and which was recently featured in Savannah Homes Magazine. The owners wanted the comfort and simplicity of a warm inviting home while not sacrificing the ability to have the latest in home technology in one of their favorite getaway destinations; Palmetto Bluff. We really had to open up our imaginations to create and incorporate a fully customized A/V system that would cooperate with the modern, yet rustic aesthetic of the home.
Since the homeowners placed an emphasis on the space feeling like home to their large family, we had to really capitalize on the entertainment areas and general gathering places. We wanted to create a relaxed and easy-going environment with the integration of flawless video and audio controls.
With this in mind, we integrated an Elan g! System that was able to control 10 distributed audio zones and 8 Sony 4K distributed video zones through intuitive handheld devices and a downloadable app for any smartphone or tablet device. The audio system has access to all the major streaming services and full TV playback using the Autonomics Mirage Audio Server and Elan 4K A/V Matrix Switcher.
The homeowner’s office was another room designed to give the ultimate entertainment experience. A wall mounted Sony 4K 75” HDTV and two smaller Sony 43” HDTV’s create a unique video wall with seamless audio integration using 7” Niles in-ceiling speakers. This gave the homeowners the option to select which display is paired with the overhead speakers.
To accommodate the home’s overall minimalistic and sleek design, AIC utilized a combination of TV lift systems, custom framed recessed TVs, hidden TV’s, HD Video Walls, and bezel-less in-ceiling speakers throughout the home. The outside entertainment area is equipped with a Nexus 21 pop-up TV lift that incorporates a 65” Sunbrite TV that is paired with 2 overhead speakers. A designated equipment room secures a custom 42 space thermally managed A/V rack system that houses 90% of the home technology equipment and keeps the low voltage wiring neatly labeled and organized. Fully enclosed side and rear panels along with a lockable smoked glass front door keep the A/V rack free of debris and unwanted intruders.
The entire A/V system is managed and surge protected using Panamax Bluebolt technology with scheduled power cycling and remote service to ensure any issues are proactively resolved before the client is ever aware. In order for all these devices and equipment to connect and communicate with each other flawlessly we decided to incorporate Netgear Nighthawk routers, wireless access points, and gigabit switches that distribute 5 gHz Wifi throughout the entire home. We had the pleasure of working with a fantastic builder, design team, and interior decorator and couldn’t be more pleased with the end result. This modern marshside marvel allowed us to go above and beyond.
