Spanish Style Oasis

Project Summary

We were blown away by this beautiful Spanish-style home upon arrival. Just walking around the perimeter, I was in awe of the architecture and design of the masterpiece. For this project, the homeowners wanted to get rid of the excess wall clutter while being able to monitor all controls with simplicity and easy accessibility. The house held up an old lighting system that consisted of three-way switches which took up an ample amount of wall space. The homeowners also wanted to have full access and control of the entire home.

A challenge we faced was figuring out the best network solution to cater to the size and infrastructure of the house. Since the home was a roughly 15,000 square feet 3 story house, it was virtually a concrete bunker. We had to conjure up a way to distribute a Wifi connection that could run smoothly and seamlessly throughout the colossal home. After we decided to install a Luxel router system, we needed to evaluate how many access points were needed to accommodate the generous amount of rooms.

This was one of the largest projects we have had to face with such a large amount of territory we had to cooperate with. We really wanted to highlight the modern design of the home by installing sleek lighting controls. We started by adding 9 zones of exterior building lighting to accentuate the best features of the home. Our first development was installing a Lutron QS Lighting System that eliminated all the excessive switches. Re-wiring was required due to the fact that the previous system was wired with the intention of installing a Radio Ra 2 System. We planted 18 Wired SeeTouch Keypads and 13 Hybrid SeeTouch Keypads that were clearly labeled, easy to use and could set up a lighting scene with just one touch.

Since the homeowners wanted to have full access and control of the entire home, we installed an Elan g! System to satisfy. Residents could access multiple on wall controllers onto one handheld keypad through this system. The homeowners could access all audio and video through 12 7” touch screens and the Elan 8 App that can be downloaded on any smartphone device. Additional benefits of the keypads included an alternate doorbell chime and intercom system that can page from one touchscreen to another or through the phone app.

Four video zones included Two Sony OLED TVs that were installed in the Great Room and Outdoor Living Area. Seventeen Audio zones housed 28 Episode Series 8 in-ceiling speakers, 4 Episode Series 6 in-ceiling speakers and a pair of Niles 6” Outdoor speakers. All audio zones and video zones were supported by Elan Software. All equipment and machinery were organized with a centralized AV rack that diminished an overflow of cables and wires.

After brainstorming together with the team, we decided to install a Luxel router with 4 Dual-band Wireless Access points that were dispersed throughout the home and an additional High Power Outdoor Wireless Access Point to provide full coverage. This network would be able to accommodate 4 video zones and 17 audio zones. All devices could connect seamlessly through this network distribution system.

The home wouldn’t be complete without a full pool and spa integration using Pentair- IntelliTouch System with the Elan Software. Aspects such as temperature control of the pool and spa, water features, and pool lights could be controlled through the software.

We wanted to exceed our client’s expectations of the perfect smart home that made life easier and effortless. We were able to deliver a state of the art home system that incorporated all their needs and more.
